In January this year I worked on the prop styling for Peter Alexander’s western inspired Rodeo Queen collection. ┬áMy dear friend and amazing assistant Brendan Hay worked with me and together we sourced a fun collection of colourful vintage rocking horses, rocking chairs, cowboy hats, boots, barrels and all things rodeo. Here are some of the final shots.

Abby Earl – Grace Kelly inspired shoot for Women’s Weekly magazine

Abby Earl – ‘Grace Kelly’ Corrie Bond Shoot for Australian Women’s Weekly

I’m finally finding a moment to share this beautiful collection of images from 2014 of A Place to Call Home Actress Abby Earl for Women’s Weekly magazine. I worked as the prop stylist on this shoot by WW’s lovely style director Mattie Cronan and photographed by the always amazing Corrie Bond. Our location for the day was a truly magnificent private residence on the Upper North Shore and it was the perfect surrounding to capture gorgeous Abby in this Grace Kelly inspired shoot.

My brief was for classic and romantic vintage props for a picnic, a pool side, tennis game, luggage, fresh flowers and luckily enough parasols were also on the list as we had a few light showers throughout the day and the crew stood by looking very elegant with their vintage styled shelter.

Make up was by Charlie Kielty and hair by Keiran Street, It was wonderful to be apart of this fabulous creative team and i think you will agree the final images are gorgeous!

Carmen Miranda for Peter Alexander

Peter Alexander ‘Carmen Miranda Collection’ Prop Styling

Through my work as a prop stylist I have been lucky enough to work for Peter Alexander over the last 5 years. His collections are always great fun and very inspiring, the prop brief colourful and creative and none more so than the Carmen Miranda collection which called me to create larger than life Carmen Miranda turbans and fun fruity jewellery.

I was given pieces of the fabric used within the pyjamas to design headwear to match the collection. It was a great job and i was thrilled with the final images. Here are some behind the scenes shots from the making and also on set to show you the process. Enjoy!

Working on Love Child

One of the many things i do through my business Vintage Allsorts is run a casting agency, through this I have been lucky enough to work on many Australian Television and Film productions over the last 5 years. A Place to Call Home, Carlotta, Love Child, Australia the Story of Us and various other projects.

Primarily I work as a casting agent, liaising closely with the casting directors placing extras in scenes. Occasionally I cast myself too, though truth be known I don’t actually make a very good extra. With my blonde bombshell locks and identifiable features I tend to stand out a little too much from the background so I usually work one or two days every season on each show I am casting. I love being on set with the extras from my agency, it’s always a fun experience.

Here are a few shots from Love Child Season 2 – this scene was c1969 – c1970 New Years Eve at The Blue Moon Nightclub. we had lots of Vintage Allsorts folk working on these days.
